"This is a terrible day." "I'm never going to get this done." "I'm just so sick."
Words are never just words.
G-d created the world through speech, and He gave us that same gift, the power to shape reality, not just describe it.
Instead of "I'm sick," maybe "I'm not feeling well right now." Instead of "Everything is going wrong," maybe "Today has been challenging." It doesn't deny reality, it just leaves room for blessing.
This idea sits right at the opening of this week's Torah portion, Matot-Masei, in the laws of vows: the moment words leave a person's mouth, they become binding upon him. Our sages didn't see that as a strange legal technicality. They saw it as proof of how much power our speech really carries.

This week we had the opportunity to meet so many wonderful people, visiting local businesses about this year's Jewish calendar, wrapping tefillin with Jewish fans at the FIFA Fan Festival, and connecting with neighbors at the farmers market.
Who knows what this next week will bring? Maybe the right words in the right moment lead to a new friendship, a new partnership, or even the future home of Mitzvah House.
