We’re a homeschool family, so no big school start day, no first-day-of-school pictures (something my kids may want to discuss with a therapist one day) and the year only really begins with our first big program. And that’s this Sunday!
We’re kicking off a brand-new year of Mitzvah Kitchens with a big giving day : come bake challah, shape cookies, and chop up a mountain of veggies.
Are you between the ages of 5 and 120 and identify as a good person? Then this is the project for you. RSVP
True giving comes from noticing and responding to what others need, even when it wasn’t part of our plan. (That message comes from the Mitzvah to leave behind the forgotten wheat in this week's Torah portion, Ki Teitzei.)
Light Shabbat candles today Friday, Sept 5th before 7:39 PM Cheers to a mitzvah-filled, wonderful year ahead.
Shabbat Shalom, Rabbi Zalmy Goldberg
